The Institute of Inorganic Chemistry at Leibniz Universität Hannover invites applications for the position of a PhD Student (m/f/d) in machine learning of the spectroscopy of d- and f-block compounds (Salary Scale 13 TV-L, 50 %) to start at the earliest possible date. The position is limited to three years.

Your Tasks

  • Execution of electronic-structure calculations of excited states of d- and f-block compounds
  • Calculation of spektra (UV/vis, X-ray)
  • Usage and extension of the groups-owned codes for machine learning of spectra
  • Cooperation with experimentalists of the institute of inorganic chemistry and the cluster of excellence PhoenixD
  • Presentation of research results in scientific journals, as GitHub code and as conference contributions

Your Profile

  • Master (or similar) degree in chemistry, physics, data science, etc.
  • Very good knowledge of quantum chemistry
  • Experience in the usage of quantum chemistry codes
  • Programming skills, e.g. in Python, Pytorch
  • Basic understanding of methods of machine learning
  • Good command of Englisch (written and spoken)
  • Independent planning and execution of work
