Abstract

We present a method for calculating the second harmonic generation from a nonlinear plasmonic metasurface. We first calculate the hyperpolarizability of the nanostructure by considering the electron dynamics through the hydrodynamic model. We then use the hyperpolarizability to drive the emission from a distribution of independent dipoles. And finally, we sum these contributions in the far-field to obtain the SHG emission from the metasurface.
